Leading economists from top universities presented exciting new research at the intersection of development, history and political economy. We learned more on how history shapes long-run development or whether populism harms democracy. Each presentation was followed by a structured discussion and an open debate.
Confirmed speakers included, among others, Rafael Di Tella (Harvard), Matthias Thoenig and Elena Esposito (Lausanne), Sascha Becker (Warwick), Ruben Durante and Luigi Pascali (Pompeu Fabra).
While the event was primarily intended for economists, non-specialists where welcome to attend some or all of the presentations.
Organizers: Bruno Caprettini, Kai Gehring, Christian Ochsner, Max Winkler, Julian Langer, Jacob Miller, Joachim Voth.
