Intro

We contributed to the 2nd Swiss National Women's Strike with an initiative in which we have a comparative advantage: rigorous research. On a topic that is often dominated by anecdotes and opinions, we share empirical evidence on issues of (un)equal opportunities by gender (and we had some fun at the same time!).

As background, the first Swiss Women's Strike happened on June 14th 1991, at the occasion of 10th anniversary of "equal rights for men and women" in the Swiss constitution. It was the largest political mobilization in the history of Switzerland (followed by the General Strike of 1918). Women and men across Switzerland organized a second day of action for gender equality on June 14th 2019.
