INAUGURAL LECTURE Dina Pomeranz: What can economics con- tribute to public policy? 4:00 PM | Kunsthalle Zurich Dina Pomeranz was appointed to the Assistant Profes- sorship of Microeconomics, endowed by the UBS Center, in 2016. Her research focuses on public poli- cies in developing countries, in particular in the areas of taxation and public procurement. With the aim to contribute to the movement towards more evidence- based policymaking, Dina Pomeranz will cover the lessons learned from developing countries in her inau- gural lecture. INAUGURAL LECTURE David Yanagizawa-Drott: The political economy of culture and conflict 4:00 PM | Kunsthalle Zurich In 2016 David Yanagizawa-Drott was appointed Professor of Development and Emerging Markets at the University of Zurich, affiliated with the UBS Cen- Sep 25 Oct 30 ter. His work is centered around economic develop- ment and political economy, with current focus on culture, conflict, and globalization. David Yanagizawa- Drott’s inaugural lecture will cover the latest evidence on topics such as social norms in job markets and the shaping of labor force. FORUM FOR ECONOMIC DIALOGUE Culture and the origins of economic pros- perity Kaufleuten Zurich The 2018 UBS Center Forum for Economic Dialogue will feature keynote speeches by bestselling author Amy Chua (Yale Law School) and human evolutionary biologist Joseph Henrich (Harvard University). INAUGURAL LECTURE Ralph Ossa: Rethinking trade policy 5:00 PM | University of Zurich Ralph Ossa was appointed to the Professorship of Economics of Globalization and Emerging Markets, endowed by the UBS Center, in 2017. His research covers international trade, economic geography and economic development. In his inaugural lecture, Professor Ossa will explain why we need to rethink trade policy. PUBLIC LECTURE Iris Bohnet: Gender and diversity University of Zurich Iris Bohnet is the Roy E. Larsen Professor of Public Policy (Harvard University).
